About Hubei University of Technology
Hubei University of Technology is located in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei. As a famous historical and cultural city of China, Wuhan has the biggest college student population among major cities of the world.
Hubei University of Technology is a multi-discipline university with Engineering as its specialty, and covering other disciplines such as Liberal Arts, Science, Economics, Management, Law and Education. The university was originally established in 1952 as Hubei Academy of Agricultural Machinery. In 1984,it merged with Hubei Institute of Light Industry to form Hubei Polytechnic Institute, and was renamed as Hubei University of Technology in 2004.
The university has an area of over 1.06 km² and a floor area of more than 900,000 m². It has complete teaching, research, entertainment, sports and logistics facilities, basic and professional laboratories. The library is the biggest (46,000 m² ) of all higher education colleges of Hubei, and has a large inventory of books and digital resources. The university also has a safe and fast campus network, and smart and convenient service platforms.
HBUT has Light Industry Faculty which consists of 5 schools, plus another 13 schools, 60 majors, 18 class-one master's degree accreditation programs, and 75 class-two master's degree accreditation programs. Student admission is available to 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and directly-controlled municipalities of the nation. HBUT has over 20,000 full-time students.
The university has 1,200 full-time teachers including 530 professors and assistant professors, 483 postgraduate student tutors and doctoral student tutors. The university also employs over 200 domestic and foreign part-time professors from famous universities, research institutes, and large enterprises at home and abroad.
In recent years, the university has adhered to the strategy of supporting the development of green industries and the green development of tradi- tional industries, and implements the green-industry oriented discipline development strategy.
The university has produced several academic journals, including China Mechanical Engineering, Hubei Agricultural Machinery, Journal of Hubei University of Technology, and others.
HBUT has a diverse international interactions and cooperative programs, and has established partnerships with universities and research instit- utes from more than 10 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Czech, Finland, Canada, Australia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, etc. The university has over 10 international joint education programs with 1,500 enrolled students. More than 200 foreign students from over 40 countries such as the United States, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have studied at HBUT. Every year, about 50 foreign experts and teachers are employed as professors or lecturers, and several hundred teachers and students are sent abroad for further studies and communication. The university has established international research centers including Hubei University of Technology Phillips Hydrophilic Colloid Research Center, Hubei University of Technology Sino-American Energy Research Center, and Hubei University of Technology Sino-French Urban Sustainable Development Platform, to name a few.
